Fireworks Light Up The Sky on Ganung Mid-Season Championship Night at Black
By RICH VLECK
DUNDEE, NY - After a week off for Graduation, the Black Rock Speedway is set to get back to racing in a serious way with the Richard Ganung Mid-Season Championships for double points this Friday Night.
Arnot Mall, ServU Credit Union and Louie’s Gun Shop have all jumped on board to sponsor this very special night at the Yates County Powerplant with Fireworks included on the card.
This will be the only time fireworks will light up the sky this season, and because of that, it is promised to be A HUGE DISPLAY OF FIREWORKS!!!!
As for the racing, all seven divisions will be on hand to mix it up for a very important night where the point standings can change in a heartbeat with this being a double points event.
Steve Paine holds a seven-point advantage in the Marbles Automotive 358-modifieds, but with his impending “week off” in a few weeks, he will either need to dominant this Friday or find Ray Bliss, Dale Welty and Brian Swarthout dicing it out for the Championship.
Daryl Hilkert remains in striking distance of the point lead in the Hoselton Auto Mall Crate Sportsman class, but it has so far been a battle between Brady Fultz and Justin Wright, with Fultz out in front at the cross flags.
Jeremy Wonderling is now hitting his groove in the Freedom Village USA Super Stocks and looks to hold off the likes of Donnie Smith again this week.
Frank Chapman is now in front of Darl Ellis Jr. and Bubba Burnell in the Street Stock class. These figure to be the three deciding the title this year.
Terry Povoski has found himself 11 points ahead of Chris Leroux and Jared Hill for the Regional Truck Pro Truck point lead. While Povoski is out in front, it is not close to the lead he had at this point last year.
Fresh off his first win in quite some time, Hector’s Del Cummings commands a 15-point advantage over Derrick Mills in the Signs Plus of Kanona 4-Cylinder division. Scott Yaw is tied for second and is still a question if he will run the balance of the season.
Rocker Austin continues to inch away from Dylan Cecce and the rest of the HomeNecessities.com Bandit division. He has won a number of events this year and will attempt to start the night off right again this week.
Racing will begin at 6:45 p.m. with adult general admission just $11, and family packs, as always, available for any size clan.
