'Up and Comer' Award Established for 358-Modified Division in 2007
By RICH VLECK
Dundee, NY (March 21, 2007)- Winning at the Black Rock Speedway is not easy, especially at the highest level, in the 358-modified division. For some competitors, they have never even tasted the sweet smell of victory. This season however, they will be rewarded for continuing to improve along their journey towards Victory Lane.
The 2007 “Up and Comer” in the Marbles Automotive 358-modified division will be presented by the Finger Lakes Auto, Truck and Marine NAPA. This will involve a store gift certificate being awarded at every points race this season to the highest-finishing driver with no career wins at Black Rock.
This new award is the brainchild of Tom and Cindy Vollmer, the owner’s of the NAPA, located on 106 Lake St. in Penn Yan, something that Black Rock General Manager Alex Hoag feels will help a number of good drivers this year.
“It’s a great way of rewarding those drivers just breaking into the modifieds,” noted Hoag. “As well as those working their way up the ranks towards greatness.”
Among those that will battle for this award, at least before they pick up their first BRS win, include championship contender Dave DuBois, sophomores Eric Fisher, Serenity Sutherland, Brian Doolittle, Mark Bristol and a wealth of others.
Look for more exciting announcements, like this one, to come in the days and weeks to come. Plenty of news will also be available this weekend at the Arnot Mall Car Show in Horseheads this Saturday and Sunday.
