Full Racing Card Returns To Black Rock Speedway Friday May 1st

DUNDEE, N.Y. – For Immediate Release – April 30th, 2015

After getting the first night of the season under its belt, Black Rock Speedway returns on Friday night with a full card of racing action on the ‘Fast Four-Tenths-Mile’.  The card will be highlighted by the second consecutive week of Big Block/Small Block Modifieds, Crate Sportsman, Morseman Racing Chassis Street Stocks, M&M Auto Sales & Service IMCA Modifieds, NAPA Know How 4 Cylinders and Creekside Entertainment Bandits.

Unlike the chilly temps on opening night- week number two will see temperatures in the 60’s as well as beginning the speedway’s handicapping process for qualification into the feature events.  The handicapping system for lining up qualified cars in the feature event takes the previous week’s finishes and inverts the field.

A second place finish will see a driver start near the back of this week’s feature, but a poor finish on opening night will reward that driver with a starting spot toward the front of this week’s feature.  Once three weeks are in the books, the handicap will average the previous three feature finishes to invert the feature lineup.

Danny Johnson scored the opening night win for the Modifieds but ‘The Doctor’ is not expected to be a regular runner at Black Rock in 2015.  One driver that will look to get back on track this week is seven-time track champion Steve Paine who finished a disappointing 13th after suffering damage on lap 1 of last week’s feature.

‘The Iceman’ Steve Gray got 2015 off to a great start by winning on opening night.  Defending track champion Casey Pavlick took the runner up position while regulars Josh Keesey, Dale Welty and Brett Buono look to add to their Top 5 finish column after finishing with Top 5s last week.

Tracy Dunn scored his first career checkered flag last Friday night in the MRC Street Stocks and the party at the Creekside shop still hasn’t stopped.  Dunn and Jared Hill snuck by Gene Balmer late in the going on opening night after Balmer and LaVerne Kickerbocker had a great battle for the lead.  After being so close to victory last week, you know Knickerbocker will be charging hard this week chasing the $500 top prize.

Keith Lamphere drew first blood in the M&M Auto Sales & Service IMCA Modifieds over ‘Dick in the Dirt’ Rich Karlnoski.  Karlnoski, the defending track champion, proved he hasn’t lost anything behind the wheel and will look to score his first victory this week when they take the track for their 20 lap feature event.

Rich Sharpsteen is 1-for-1 in NAPA Know How 4 Cylinder competition at Black Rock Speedway to go along with being 2-for-2 in competition at the Woodhull Raceway.  Sharpsteen will be handicapped to the back this week, putting a bid for going 4-for-4 in jeopardy.  Chad Ayers has been the bridesmaid twice and finished fourth once so he will look to dethrone the ‘Flyin’ X’.

Jeff Daugherty is also undefeated in Bandit competition at both Black Rock and Woodhull and will look for the trifecta Friday night in SuperGen Products/Champion Power Equipment Victory Lane.
