Event Features Crate 100 to Kick Off Busy Season for Sportsman

Rich Vleck, ROCHESTER, NY, (March 2, 2013)- Easter comes early this year, and so will race season in New York, with the Black Rock Speedway’s Annual Rock Launcher less than four weeks away.

On Saturday, March 30, Dundee Sav-a-Lot will present Rock Launcher 2013, featuring six exciting classes, most of whom will be in competition on a regular basis at BRS this summer.

The Crate Sportsman will take center stage on most nights at BRS season, and even though this show will start around midday, this event will be no different as they will be running a 100-lap feature.  This $2,000-to-win, $200-to-start race will also feature time trials.  This will be the first of three legs of participation to gain eligibility for the last chance qualifier race at November’s Crate Classic 200. To add to the sportsman mania, BRS has added a regular season race on April 19 plus made May 17 and July 12 double features for the division.  The full purpose of this will be announced in the weeks to come.

Another exciting division as part of this afternoon card is the return of the modifieds in another Small block/ Big Block Challenge.  This $1,500-to-win, 25-lap event will be one of just two modified events at BRS in 2013, so this is a race you do not want to miss.

Two touring series will kick off their busy schedules as well on March 30.  Once again this season, the IMCA Modified Empire Series and the CRSA 305 Sprints will be part of the Rock Launcher card.  Both series will be making multiple stops at BRS in 2013.

The street stocks and the 4-cylinders will also have their first crack at the 4/10-mile oval before weekly competition starts.  The street stocks will have a $300-to-win event while the 4-cylinders will run the FWD and RWD cars in a combined event but pay $200 to the highest finisher in each class before they split up for the season.

Pit gates will open at 9:00 A.M. on the morning for March 30.  The sportsman will run time trials at approximately Noon while heat races will get underway at 1:00 P.M.

This will get what is expected to be a very eventful 2013 season in Dundee off on the right foot. Another big event that is building steam is the first ever Father’s Day Frenzy on Sunday Afternoon, June 16. Gregg’s Auto Body of Horseheads has signed on as event sponsor to help create a high-paying 50-lap street stock event and now added to the card is a BRP CanAm Late Model Tour race.  This race day already featured an IMCA Empire Series race, a 50-lap sportsman show, and in the works has been a FWD/RWD 4-Cylinder race on the road course.  This will be a great way to spend Father’s Day and likely will become a new holiday tradition.
